Philosophy Faculty

With more than 20 full-time faculty members, the Philosophy department is one of the largest departments on campus — comparable in size to the departments of many major research universities.

Many of our faculty regularly present their latest research at international conferences and workshops and publish their work with top journals and presses. Among us are internationally renowned researchers in every major period in the history of philosophy from the Ancient to the Contemporary. Our specialties include figures like Plato, Augustine, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Husserl, and Wittgenstein, and topics such as Existentialism, Phenomenology, Philosophy of Disability, Philosophy of Law, Philosophy of Mind, and Social and Political Thought.

We teach a wide range of courses in our respective research interests, and are also available to supervise Independent Study projects (PHL480). Students interested in conducting an Independent Study with individual faculty members are welcome to contact the relevant instructor to discuss possible topics.
